ASKO Professional Washer
ASKO Professional Dryer
How much laundry will my washer hold?
- An ASKO washer holds as much as any top-loader because they
don't have a space-stealing central agitator. They will hold 14
regular bath towels, queen-sized comforters, and king-size bedspreads
and blankets.
- To get the best results; cotton and linen fabrics can be washed
in full loads, permanent press fabrics in half loads, and delicate
fabrics (machine washable wool and silk) should only be washed
in one-third size loads.
What kind of detergent should I use and how much?
- For optimal results we recommend that you use a low-sudsing
detergent. We recommend Tide HE and Wisk HE. Even with these detergents,
you only need about two tablespoons. ASKO washers are so water-efficient
that using more than that will likely cause oversudsing.
- If you want to use a liquid low-sudsing detergent, use only
one or two tablespoons and insert the liquid detergent partition
in one of the slots in the main wash compartment in the detergent
drawer.
What kind of softener should I use in the washer and how much?
We recommend that you use only two tablespoons of regular, concentrated
fabric softener like Downy Enhancer. If your clothes aren't soft
enough, try using slightly more with the next load. The fabric softener
helps eliminate wrinkles and helps the drying process.
Why is the wash program longer than my old top-loader?
The ASKO Laundry Care System is specifically designed to produce
the absolutely cleanest clothes possible and do it with the least
amount of water, electricity and detergent. This means the focus
is on putting the time and energy into cleaning the clothes and
minimizing the amount of time and energy and heat required for drying.
However, if you have only lightly-soiled clothes, then the ASKO
Professional gives you the flexibility to use its unique programs
to shorten the wash times. The Light Wash (P4) and Super Quick Wash
(P5) programs provide wash times similar to what you are accustomed.
What is the noise produced during the spin cycle?
ASKO washers spin up to three times faster than most top-loaders
to remove more moisture so your clothes need far less energy to
dry them. This noise is the normal result of spinning 30-40 lbs
of wet clothes at speeds up to 1,200 rpms.
Why does my washer have a pin trap?
An ASKO tumble washer is much more effective in removing items left
in pockets so more things are washed out. The pin trap catches these
items and protects the pump. This helps eliminate service calls
to clear a blocked pump. If you always check and empty all the pockets,
you may never have to empty this trap.
How do I check and clear the pin trap?
Use the flat edge of the liquid detergent partition piece or a similar
item to gently pry open the pump cover. This grey plastic partition
is attached to the bottom of the soap compartment or it may be already
in the soap dispenser if you have been using it to help contain
liquid detergents. Using the flat edge of the partition or a similar
item, gently pry open the drain pump door. Place a shallow container
on the floor below the drain to catch the water in the pump. Pull
the small black hose from its position on the door, pull the plug
in the end of the hose, and let the water drain into the pan. Then
unscrew the pin trap cover, remove it and empty it. Re-install it
in the opposite order.
What temperatures do you recommend for specific fabrics?
Follow the care label instructions on each item and use the hottest
temperature that is safe for the clothing.
Is it normal to not see the water level through the door?
Yes. Front-loading washers use much less water than top-loaders,
it is normal to not see the water in the tank. If there are water
drops on the glass window, the machine is filling correctly. The
delicate program uses more water, so you will probably see the water
through the window when you use this program.
When does the lighted screen go off?
When the unit has finished its program. The LED window stays lit
as long as the program is running. If you press a program key but
do not press Start, the window will go blank in about three minutes.
What do I do when the washer won't start?
- If the power indicator light isn't glowing, it's likely the
power isn't on. Press the Power button to turn the machine on.
- If you pressed the Power button and the indicator light didn't
come on, make sure the machine is plugged in and the breaker is
in the On position.
- Make sure the door is closed securely.
- Did you select a program and then press Start.

Why aren't my clothes as hot and "dry" as with my
previous dryer?
ASKO dryers use lower, less-damaging temperatures and have a "cool
down" cycle at the end of each program. This means the garments
are cool to the touch when you remove them from the dryer. The fabric
will not be hot and may actually feel damp even though it is actually
dry. As you are probably aware, the dryer is one of the largest
electricity users in your household. And overdrying is one of the
most damaging things you can do to your clothing. This more gentle
approach to drying saves enormous amounts of electricity and greatly
extends the life and beauty of your clothing.
If you want your clothes even dryer, try these tips:
- Some fabrics dry faster than others, so mixed loads will dry
unevenly. Try drying like fabrics together.
- Be careful not to overload the dryer because the warm air needs
sufficient room to circulate properly and the clothes need room
to tumble freely.
- Set all programs to use the highest temperature allowable by
the fabric maker's recommendation.
- Make sure condenser and lint filter are clean.
How important is it to clean the filter after each load?
Extremely! The lint filter is the backbone of the drying
system. If the filter is clogged the unit will not dry efficiently.
Can my lint filter be clogged even though it appears clean?
Yes, the chemicals from fabric softener sheets can clog the filter.
To test this, drop some water on it, if it runs through, it's OK.
If not, it's clogged. This can easily be washed away with soap and
water and a soft brush. We don't recommend dryer sheets, but if
you feel you need them, use only half a sheet and be sure to remove
them after each load.
What maintenance is required with a condenser dryer (no external
vent)?
The condenser should be cleaned every two months, more often if
you have pets. It must be clean so the air can circulate around
it and perform as designed.
How do I remove the bottom panel and the condenser in my condenser
dryer (no external air vent) so I can clean it?
Grasp the bottom of the front panel and pull it forward and down.
Turn the red toggle latches, open the door and slide out the condenser.
Wash it at the sink or in the bathtub, being careful not to bend
the cooling fins, and then re-install.
When does the digital screen go off?
When the program is complete. The LED window stays lit as long as
the program is running. If you press a program key but do not press
Start, the window will go blank in about three minutes.
Why do my clothes occasionally come out wrinkled?
You may be overloading the dryer. Try smaller loads.
You should dry heavy fabrics and light fabrics separately, such
as permanent press fabrics separately from 100% cotton fabrics.
Fabric softener in the washer helps to prevent wrinkles from forming
in the dryer.
Always try to remove the clothes as soon as the dryer stops.
What should I do when the dryer doesn't come on?
